CIMCORP CAREERS —

People skills in robotics

As surprising as it may sound, the need for social skills is what attracts Ville in robotics. Working closely with customers, the communication must be open and co-operation oriented. Combined with possibility to travel, work at Cimcorp meets Ville’s desires very well.

Designed to design

Playing with computers from an early age, Ville was practically destined to work with computers. He studied a degree in software engineering and was recruited straight from the classroom to code Java for a start-up company.

Ville started his career in Pori, followed by briefly commuting between Pori and Helsinki. From there he ended up back in Ulvila, working for Cimcorp in the footsteps of a former colleague. "I heard so many good things about Cimcorp, I just had to seize the opportunity," says Ville and continues “In our field there’s a lot of mobility between work places, people change companies like socks. But I’ve been happy to stay here and I’m not looking to change anytime soon.”

Customer orientation in international environment

Ville has had his share of experience working for different sizes and kinds of companies. "Cimcorp seems to be the perfect size, not too big and not too small. I was also fascinated by the context of an international robotics company in the middle of a small town."

Ville works in customer support and enjoys the people aspect of the job as well as traveling.

In customer support, work is quite people-oriented so one must have good people skills. This job involves a lot of traveling to the customer sites, which is nice because often times you get to go to places you wouldn’t have visited otherwise.

Ville believes working in customer support is like being in a relationship, stating, “You can’t always have your way; it is about making compromises. Both parties are equally valuable when planning and making a solution: The customer provides the framework for their needs and wants, and we provide the expertize for the optimal solution.”

Caring for customers’ interests

Ville says, “Sometimes we do pilot projects that have never been done before, so you could say we are kind of like inventors in some sense. Therefore working closely with the client is a must. If we ignore customers’ wishes and preferences, there is a good chance of things going wrong. When working with customers, you have to support one another and keep up to date and ensure you are consistently on the same track. Customers know what they want, but if we, as professionals, see a better way to solve their needs, we like to challenge the client’s view.”
